Dedicated to the memory of our Dad, Hemchandra Dodhia

This site is a tribute to our Dad, Hemchandra Dodhia, who passed away on Monday 21st October 2019.

Born on 4th May 1960 in Nairobi, Kenya, to the late Mohanlal Dodhia and Shantaben Dodhia he was the beloved brother of 4 other siblings. His childhood was filled with sports and family fun, and as the oldest of the siblings he made sure he looked after his brother and sisters the best he could. After marrying our mum, Smruti, in 1990 and having us, he embraced fatherhood with just as much joy and laughter.

In September 2017, Dad was diagnosed with brain cancer. He underwent a high intensity surgery and several rounds of radio and chemotherapy. In the last few months of his life, Dad experienced several complications and passed away peacefully surrounded by all of his family.

In the two years of his diagnosis, Dad was very vocal about his support for Cancer Research UK. He loved the work that the charity did for people like him, and even attended the local Race For Life in 2019. He wanted to make sure that his story was used to promote the great work of Cancer Research UK and that people continue donating to this amazing cause.

It is also worth mentioning Dad's advocacy for education. A secondary school teacher by profession, he also volunteered his time to many educational initiatives. All are welcome to the memorial dinner (details below) where we will have a collection box for education causes in India.

Nonetheless, join us in celebrating the life and legacy of Dad by donating whatever you can to this incredible charity. Your support can go a long way to help lots of people, like Dad, get the advanced treatment they need. Big or small, your support is much appreciated. We hope Dad's story can help inspire more life-changing work and help a lot more people... just like he would have wanted!
